Download Checarda

Checarda is an app that allows you to check a cardholder’s details from a PC or Laptop:

  • To read physical cards you will need a suitable USB smartcard reader and the correct drivers to read physical cards
  • To read virtual cards you can use either a handheld QR code scanner or a webcam.

Recommended and approved smartcard readers can be purchased from Smartcard Focus.

You can also read physical and virtual smartcards on your smartphone by downloading either of our Android or iOS apps.

(Please note iOS is only available for reading virtual cards).

How does it work?

Your card reader reads information either directly from the physical smartcard’s chip or from a virtual smartcard’s secure, short-life QR code and then surfaces this on your PC or laptop screen. This not only reduces the possibility of card fraud, but also makes capturing and storing smartcard details much quicker and more efficient.

When the app is used to read a card online, it checks for updates to the card data and then surfaces this information on the device being used. When the app is used to read a physical card offline, it surfaces the most recently available data stored in the smartcard chip. When used to read a virtual card offline, the app validates the authenticity of the card immediately and later downloads the full card data once an internet connection is available.

  • Read the QR code that is generated by the cardholder
  • An image of the card will appear on your screen
