Physical cards are read using the chip embedded in the card.
When read offline, Checarda simply reads the data stored in the card chip and presents it on screen.
Read online, Checarda, checks the authenticity of the card and then connects to Gencarda to see if the card has been cancelled or updated. The smartcard is then updated or cancelled, before displaying the cardholder’s details on screen. When cards are read electronically, a copy of the card is captured by Checarda along with the time and GPS co-ordinates, where available. This provides a complete audit trail of card reads.
Virtual cards can be installed on iOS and Android mobile devices and can be transferred between them.
Virtual cards are read using encrypted, short-life QR codes, which due to their short-life, are highly secure.
When read, a copy of the card is captured by Checarda along with the time and GPS co-ordinates, where available. This provides a complete audit trail of card reads for the organisation and sends a notification to the cardholder.
When read offline, the card is provisionally validated and the rest of the card check is then cached on the reader and completed once connectivity is available.
